Protecting Children Against Violence and Active Shooters. The H.E.R.O. Program is the first age-appropriate and trauma-informed curriculum to help PreK-12 students and teachers prevent and survive violent events in their schools and communities. Founded in 2016 by law enforcement officers and educators, Safe Kids Inc. tackles the rising challenge of active shooter and violent events in schools and communities. The team developed the first-of-its-kind curriculum, teaching students vital survival methods previously unavailable in an age-appropriate format. This program merges safety best practices with educational strategies to empower students and teachers in recognizing, avoiding, and responding to violent threats, aiming to save lives through informed and proactive actions in the classroom and beyond.
