About

Jean Paul Chauvet (known as JP) is CEO of Lightspeed Commerce, a global commerce company that offers advanced POS & Payments platforms tailored to the needs of the most successful retailers, restaurants, and golf courses worldwide. With teams across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific, the company powers ambitious entrepreneurs in over 100 countries. JP is not your usual CEO. A clothes horse and foodie since forever, he has applied his passion for fine clothes and dining to empower Lightspeed’s customer base, catering to some of the world’s most successful retailers (think Rolex, Brunello Cucinelli and Bang & Olufsen) and Michelin Star restaurants (from Daniel Boulud’s award-winning properties to newer restaurants like Brooklyn’s Clover Hill). JP joined Lightspeed in October 2012 and worked his way up the ladder in nearly all aspects of the business, including product management, engineering, marketing, sales, strategic alliances, and customer service. This armed JP with hands-on, 360-degree experience, a trademark of the world’s best leaders. Before taking the reins as CEO (in early 2022), JP held the positions of President and Chief Revenue Officer, and he has been a member of Lightspeed’s board of directors since 2013. JP’s accomplishments at Lightspeed are diverse and impactful, including leading many of the company’s strategic acquisitions and Lightspeed’s double-listing on the Toronto and the New York Stock Exchanges (LSPD.TO)(LSPD.NYSE). He also holds the distinction of driving the creation, launch, and growth of the company’s highly successful Lightspeed Payments and Lightspeed Capital solutions. JP is sharply focused on product innovation tailored to the specific needs of Lightspeed’s customers. He’s committed to leveling the playing field for the sophisticated independent retailers and restaurants that Lightspeed serves, arming them with technology traditionally only available to larger enterprise operators. As a result, the world’s best restaurants and retailers choose the company’s cutting-edge unified POS and Payments platforms because Lightspeed has it all: integrated payments, inventory management, advanced insights, real-time reporting, staff and supplier management, embedded financial services, and personalized support from industry experts. Born in France, JP grew up in Africa and has worked and lived in Canada, the United States, the UK, France, Singapore, and Australia. As a citizen of the world, JP brings a global perspective to his role as CEO. Before joining Lightspeed, JP helped grow high-tech businesses in Montreal, Quebec, Singapore, and London. JP holds a Master’s Degree in Marketing from the IDRAC Business School in Paris.
