Ziyi Gao is the co-founder and COO of Reframe, an app that helps people reduce or stop drinking alcohol through healthy habit formation. Gao started working on Reframe as a college student at Georgia Tech alongside her co-founder. After graduating with a bachelor’s in industrial engineering in 2017, she continued iterating on the app, eventually getting accepted to Y Combinator’s summer 2021 batch of startups. Passionate about helping people live better lives through better habits, she has also co-founded two spinoffs of Reframe—Reframe Mind and Reframe Sleep.

Developed by two Georgia Tech engineering alumni in conjunction with expertise from doctors and mental health experts, Reframe takes a scientific approach to alcohol reduction and sobriety. Reframe helps people create healthier drinking habits, track those habits and bond with other people on a similar journey in an online community where they can give and receive support. Reframe was launched in 2020 and was a member of Y Combinator’s summer 2021 cohort. To date, it has been featured in various news outlets, including TechCrunch, 6abc.com and the Los Angeles Times.
